The Dark Tower - A comic book series proposal

Hey all. My name is Kurt Belcher. A few months ago, I got in touch with one of Mr. King's assistants, the gracious Ms. Marsha DeFilippo, and was invited to submit a proposal for a comics or graphic novel series based on Mr. King's "Dark Tower" series of novels.

I got in touch with six fantastic artists to produce art for the proposal. They were Philipp Neundorf, Brad Mrock, Carlos Mendez Dumestre, Jeff Cram, Eric Mrock and Bob Cram. My initial (and I still think correct) idea was to produce a proposal that reflected the changing styles of art used in the series, while not necessarily reflecting the exact artistic style of each. I also wanted to have the artists reflect the art on the books, with one artist producing art for the first and last book, and five other artists doing art for each book in-between.

Putting together the actual proposal was a fantastic learning experience, and was all the more amazing because we did it under a deadline of three weeks. The artists not only produced work that reflected each book perfectly, but also just did fantastic quality work and an amazing amount of it.

Unfortunately, we've never received any reply about the proposal one way or the other, so we've just come to the conclusion it was rejected. This isn't a slight against Ms. DeFilippo or Mr. King, as I have absolutely no doubt that Mr. King and his assistants are all extremely busy people. We just had fun with the proposal and are very grateful to them for being allowed to put this together. However, we involved in the proposal just wanted to see to it that you, the (fellow) fans, got the opportunity to see the work we produced and got a glimpse of what might have been.
